Yellow Jackets pound Virginia Tech



ATLANTA - Matt Wieters had five RBIs and Jeff Kindel scored four runs to help Georgia Tech easily beat Virginia Tech 27-2 on Saturday night.

Tyler Greene, Steven Blackwood, Andy Hawranick and Whit Robbins each drove in three runs for the Yellow Jackets (36-14, 20-6 Atlantic Coast Conference), who scored 12 runs in the first inning and 11 in the second. Tech added four runs in the seventh.

Tech starter Blake Wood (9-1) allowed one run, seven hits and struck out five in five innings.

Ryan Kennedy (5-7) gave up nine runs and eight hits in 1/3 of an inning for the Hokies (20-25, 5-17). Randy Buffington and Bobby West combined to give up 14 runs in 1 1/3 innings.
