ATHENS, Ga. - Karl Amonite's RBI single capped a three-run fifth inning to lift Auburn over Georgia 5-4 on Friday night.
The Bulldogs (25-23, 9-15 Southeastern Conference) took a 3-2 lead in the third when Bobby Felmy had a run-scoring single and later scored off a fielder's choice. Joey Side added another run on a single.
But the Tigers (31-20, 12-13) regained the lead in the fifth. Clete Thomas scored a run off a groundout, Josh Bell had a run-scoring double and Amonite drove in the deciding run on a single.
Auburn starter Arnold Hughey (6-4) got the win, but allowed four runs and nine hits in five innings. Michael Nix earned his 13th save.
Michael Hyle (3-4) gave up five runs on nine hits, walked one and struck out two for Georgia.
