Mr. John Griffin, Sr. (AUGUSTA, Ga.)



AUGUSTA, Ga. - Mr. John William Griffin, Sr., 88, beloved husband of Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Griffin, entered into rest on Thursday, May 12, 2005 at the Veteran's Administration Medical Center. Graveside services will be held on Monday, May 16, 2005 at 1:00 PM at Westover Memorial Park with the Rev. Sherill Dunn officiating. Mr. Griffin was an Army Veteran of World War II, serving in Company B, 74th CAAA in the African Theatre. He was a member of Walden Masonic Lodge in Greenville, S.C., the Sons of Confederate Veterans, and also a member of Carswell Parrish Sunday School Class at Curtis Baptist Church. He was retired from the automobile business. In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Cherie Griffin of Athens; a son, John William (Buddy) Griffin, Jr., of Charleston, S.C.; a sister, Mrs. Lois Berry of Greenville, S.C.; six grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren.
