Ms. Alberta "Tommie" Birkle (AUGUSTA, Ga.)



AUGUSTA, Ga. - Entered into rest on Monday, May 9, 2005 at St. Joseph Hospice, Ms. Alberta "Tommie" Gibson Birkle, 87. Ms. Birkle was a native of Augusta who worked as a teller for years at Ft. Gordon before moving to the loan department of Georgia Railroad Bank and was a member of the Georgia Railroad Bank Quarter Century Club. She was very active at St. James United Methodist Church where she was a member. Ms. Birkle will always be remembered for her thoughtfulness in remembering everyone on their special occasion. Family members include her niece, Martha C. Crawford and her husband, Emory of Mocksville, NC; nephew, Brooks A Carpenter and his wife Cheryl of Easley, SC; a number of great nieces and nephews including, Kim Smith, Allen Crawford, Pam Dellinger, Mandi Whisenhunt, Mitchell Carpenter, Michael Carpenter, Todd Rampey, Tracey R. Littleton and Tim Rampey and their families and special friends, Brenda and Char les Harman. Graveside funeral services will be held on Friday, May 13, 2005 at 1:00 P.M. at Westover Memorial Park with Rev. Ron Wasiluk officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to the St. James United Methodist Church in honor of the Youth Department for the Elevator Fund, 439 Greene St., Augusta, GA 30901.
