Mr. W. Earle Eskew (HINESVILLE, Ga.)

HINESVILLE, Ga. - W. Earle Eskew, age 78, died Tuesday, May 10, 2005 at Candler General Hospital after a long illness. He was a native of Atlanta and lived the past four years in Hinesville. He was a graduate of Lanier High School in Macon and attended Georgia Tech and Augusta College. He was a WWII U.S. Army veteran and retired from civil service at Fort Gordon after 34 years service. He was a real estate broker in Augusta, an avid golfer and had previously played golf at St. Andrews, Scotland. He was a member of Goshen County Club and Forrest Hill County Club in Augusta and attended his 54th Masters Tournament in April 2005 and was a member of Cherokee Rose County Club in Hinesville. He was a member of Webb Masonic Lodge #166 in Augusta and the recipient of the Masonic 50 year membership pin. He was the founder and charter member of the Suburban Volunteer Fire Department in Augusta. He was a member of Midway First United Methodist Church. Suviving are hi s wife, Sara M. Eskew of Hinesville; three daughters and sons-in-law, Deborah and Doug Scott of Atlanta, Patrice and Brooks Boyd of Charlotte, NC and Valerie and Gene Daniel of Daphne Ala.; stepchildren and spouses, Freddy and Valerie Durrence of Midway, Al and Joann Durrence of Brooklet, Randy Durrence of Ludowici and Sharon Durrence of Hinesville; 18 grandchildren and several great-great-grandchildren. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m., Thursday, May 12, 2005 at Carter Funeral Home Oglethorpe Chapel. Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m., Friday, May 13, 2005 at Midway First United Methodist Church with Rev. John Walker officiating. Burial will be in Hinesville Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Matthew Scott, Les Brannen, Clint Durrence, Marty Durrence, Greg McCaller and Christopher Donaghe. Honorary pallbearers will be the Midway United Methodist Church Men's Club, also Lamar Smoak, Wallace Strickland, Buster Strickland, Ronnie Mobley, Clifford Johnson, Bob Cagle and Dan Clark.
