BLACKSBURG, Va. - Kris Harvey hit a grand slam in the eighth inning to lead Clemson to a 6-2 win over Virginia Tech on Tuesday night.
Jeff Hahn (3-1) surrendered just two hits in five scoreless relief innings. Travis Storrer started the Tigers' (30-19, 15-9 Atlantic Coast Conference) scoring with a solo homer in the second. It was his second homer of the series and extended his hitting streak to 13 games.
Virginia Tech (20-23, 5-15) answered in the bottom of the inning. Matt Hacker led off with a single and scored on Jose Rojas' double down the right-field line. Sheldon Adams homered in the fifth to give the Hokies a 2-1 lead.
But the Tigers took the lead for good in the eighth. Brad Chalk singled and Taylor Harbin doubled before Tyler Colvin was intentionally walked. Harvey, who leads the ACC with 18 homers, then hit the first-pitch over the wall.
