BLACKSBURG, Va. - Josh Cribb pitched a six-hit shutout and led Clemson to a 7-0 victory over Virginia Tech on Monday night.
Cribb (4-4) had six strikeouts and one walk for the Tigers (29-19, 14-9 Atlantic Coast Conference). He gave up just three hits to the Hokies (20-22, 5-14) in the first six innings.
Clemson went ahead 3-0 in the fifth after Stan Widmann singled, stole second and moved to third on an error. Widmann scored on Herman Demmink's bunt single.
Brad Chalk laid down another bunt and Taylor Harbin's double put Clemson ahead 2-0. Tyler Colvin's sacrifice increased the lead.
Ryan Kennedy (5-6) pitched three scoreless innings for Virginia Tech after giving up the three runs but he allowed a two-run homer to Adrian Casanova in the ninth.
