KNOXVILLE, Tenn. - James Adkins pitched 7 2-3 innings Sunday and struck out four to help Tennessee beat South Carolina 11-5 and sweep their three-game series.
Adkins is now 7-2. Jason Fletcher (5-4) suffered the loss in two innings.
Tennessee (35-14, 15-8 Southeastern Conference) dominated South Carolina (32-16, 12-12) most of the game, leading 11-0 until the eighth inning. J.P. Arencibia was 3-for-4 with two RBI and Alex Suarez was 2-for-4 with three RBI for the Vols.
South Carolina scored three runs in the eighth. Its final two runs came in the ninth on Brendan Winn's 12th homer of the year.
