AUGUSTA, Ga. - Entered into rest on Tuesday, March 15,2005 , Mr. Edwin Carl Mertins, Jr., beloved husband of 50 years of Mrs. Lois Linder Mertins. Mr. Mertins was born in Augusta and lived here all of his life. He was a graduate of the University of South Carolina, a retired Vice President of the Graniteville Co., a member of the Lutheran Church of the Resurrection, a member of The Exchange Club of Augusta and served our country in the Naval Reserve. Other survivors include his sons: Edwin Carl Mertins, III and David Brian Mertins, both of Augusta, daughters: Sandra Ulmer Mason of Duluth, GA and Sharon Ulmer Black and son-in-law, Bill Black of Buford, GA.; four grandchildren, Stephanie Mason, Lisa Mason, Miles Mason, IV and Christopher Black and a sister Sue Mertins Everett of Virginia Beach, VA. Graveside services will be (today) Friday, March 18, 2005, 12:00 noon at Westover Memorial Park with Pastor David B. Hunter officiating.
