Assault indictment in place against dentist
CHARLOTTE, N.C. - A former North Carolina dentist accused of using syringes to squirt semen into the mouths of female patients was indicted Monday on seven misdemeanor counts of assault on a female.
Dr. John Hall, 44, who practiced in Cornelius before his license was revoked last year, was expected to turn himself in Wednesday. He faces up to 120 days in jail if convicted.
Dr. Hall could not be reached for comment. In the past, he has denied the charges.
Fired officer stops attempt to regain job
LOUISVILLE, KY. - A former police officer fired after shooting a teenager during an undercover drug buy dropped his bid to return to the force and will receive $59,500 in back pay, city officials said Monday.
McKenzie Mattingly fatally shot Michael Newby, 19, in 2003. The incident prompted weeks of protests in Louisville, in part because Mr. Mattingly is white and Mr. Newby was black.
Mr. Mattingly was later acquitted of murder charges.
