Cycling
The Central Savannah River Area chapter of the Southern Off-Road Bicycle Association will hold its annual Baker's Dozen, a 13-hour mountain bike race, April 16 on Horn Creek Trail, at Lick Fork Recreation area Southwest of Edgefield, S.C. Registration will begin at 8 a.m. and the race will start at 10 a.m. Entry fee is $35 for SORBA members and $45 for non-members. Proceeds will benefit local trail maintenance and trail advocacy. Fencing
Registration is now being accepted for two new ten-week classes in beginning foil fencing. The youth class (11-14 year old) will meet Tuesdays from 5:30-
6:20 p.m., and the adult class will meet Thursdays from 6-6:50 p.m.

The Mutual of Omaha Drive, Chip and Putt Junior Challenge will be held at The First Tee of Augusta on April 1 at 3:30 p.m. The first 250 registrants in Augusta will be selected to compete, and winners will have the opportunity to compete in regional championships, and possibly the Mutual of Omaha Drive, Chip and Putt National Championship in October. Competitors will be divided into four age groups: 7-8, 9-10, 11-12, and 13-14. The Boys and Girls Clubs of America will hold a Steak & Burger dinner March 14 at 6:30 p.m. at the Augusta State University Athletic Center. Keynote speaker will be Jim Morris, whose remarkable rise to major league baseball was the subject of a book and the movie "The Rookie." Applications for the annual public access drawing to Fort Gordon for hunting and fishing permits must be submitted before March 15. The application can be a letter for entry into the drawing, and include the person's name, address, social security number, date of birth, and phone number. More than three applicants per letter will not be accepted. The Aiken County Parks, Recreation, and Tourism Department will host a Spring Break Camp for boys and girls ages 6-12 on April 4-9 at Harrison-Caver Park in Clearwater. The 2005 CSRA Humane Society Celebrity Softball Challenge will be held May 1 at Lake Olmstead Stadium. Local radio, TV, and print personalities will compete in a three-game softball challenge.
