Comments from readers:

WHY DOESN'T AUGUSTA have anything that gives you the exact time of day? The TV channel used to give it 24 hours a day, and they took that away from us. And the telephone book doesn't give you a specific number to call for the time.

A RAVE TO THE PEOPLE who took the self-select at Savannah River Site. Maybe now management will understand that the people working out there don't feel like they have their best interests toward the working personnel. That's why so many people are leaving.

THIS IS IN RESPONSE to the person who wrote about doctors' schedules. The doctors make the schedule. The people in the office have to go by what the doctors say. So the next time you want to put in that people in the office schedule every 15 minutes, you need to get your facts right before you call in.

I WANT TO AGREE WITH the woman who said about the doctors' offices on how they need to schedule every 30 minutes instead of every 15 minutes. Also the doctors' offices that won't let small children in the OB-GYN. Sometimes we don't have people to watch our children, so we have to keep canceling our appointments.

IN REFERENCE TO CUSTOMERS not tipping servers, it may just be that there are customers with sticky fingers. I saw that happen recently at a buffet-type restaurant. I recommend you give it to your server personally.

IN REFERENCE TO THE article on traffic doubling in 25 years, maybe efforts should be put into a rail system, which is more cost effective, better for the environment and more pleasant to ride than driving in busy traffic.

THIS IS A RAVE for Columbia, S.C. Maybe our local politicians can take a day trip and learn from them about how to create and maintain a vital downtown area that accommodates all walks of life. One where tourism is alive and well all year round, not once a year. Where there is no discrimination against smokers in restaurants or bars. A downtown that has nice clubs of all genres.

WELL, THE SUPREME COURT is at it again. ... No penalties for a murderer under the age of 18. The teenage killers were old enough to know what they were doing, and this might encourage more killing because the Supreme Court gives free room and board for anybody under 18 who kills someone.

COLUMBIA COUNTY commissioners, wake up and smell the roses. Belair Road is just an extension of Gordon Highway. You keep building low-income housing and as many condos as you can in one little area. You continue to have stabbings and shootings. I don't know what your thinking is. You come from Interstate 20 and it looks just like Gordon Highway. Wake up. You're going to get voted out of office if you continue this way.
