The Morris Museum of Art wants to infuse its 11th annual black tie gala with some Southern sparkle.
Inspired by the Rhythms of Life: The Art of Jonathan Green exhibition opening Saturday, the party will revolve around a Southern theme.
"Basing it around Jonathan Green made it so easy," said Donna Branch, the special events coordinator at the Morris. "It just screams party. It's so fun and so perfect."
The event will feature a cocktail party in the galleries, followed by a seated dinner in a tent, thematically decorated by local designer Wesley Cadle.
The event also will feature a light show and a $100 ticket raffle, with an African safari, a Nashville, Tenn., getaway and jewelry as prizes.
With a ticket price of $175, Ms. Branch acknowledged that many Augustans might suffer from sticker shock. She said the goal was to provide something unique.
"This is something that does not happen a lot here," she said. "And yes, for Augusta it is a high ticket price. But in New York, this would be a $1,000 party."
