Mrs. Maxine S. Starnes (WAGENER, S.C.)

WAGENER, S.C. - Services for Maxine Sturkie Starnes, 88, will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 2, 2005 at Berlin Baptist Church with interment to follow in Wagener cemetery. Pallbearers will be Andy Bolin, Cory Essick, Jimmy Smith, Joey Seifers, Al Warner and John Essick. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Memorials may be made to Alzheimer's Association, Mid-State Chapter, PO box 7044, Columbia SC 29202-7044. Caughman-Harman Funeral Home, Lexington Chapel is in charge. Mrs. Starnes, widow of Harley V. Starnes, died Monday, February 28, 2005. Born in Lexington Co., SC she was the daughter of the late Irvin and Sara (Sadie) Sturkie. She was a member of Berlin Baptist Church. She was employed with Wagener Manufacturing and owned and operated Starnes Grocery with her late husband. She is survived by her daughters, Harlene R. Starnes of Perry, SC, Nancy S. Bolin of Aiken, SC Joyce S. Essick (John) of West C olumbia, SC; son, Arthur I. Starnes of Columbia, SC; grandchildren, Amanda Seifers (Joey) of Murrells Inlet, SC and Andy Bolin of Aiken, Shannon E. Smith and Cory Essick of West Columbia; great-grandchildren, Megan, Melanie and Meredith Smith of West Columbia, Todd L. Bolin and Becca Bolin of Aiken and Olivia Essick of West Columbia.
