The thugdom of Aiken and Augusta was having its sessions with Augusta detectives and FBI teams Tuesday as those authorities reported the trail towards solution of the $16,000 savings bank burglary here seemed to lead toward "outside professionals."
Chief F. B. Green has alerted his officers to the chance of a repetition of the kind of burglary which took a thief into a savings company vault via ventilation ducts.
He said he believed the men were professional safe and burglary operators who "knew how to crack the job and had a good general knowledge of what to look for."BoxToday in regional history:
