NORTH AUGUSTA, S.C. - Mrs. Lillie Powell Askren died peacefully in her sleep February 26, 2005 having suffered from emphysema for the past 22 years. Although she had been homebound for many years, Lillie never complained and had encouraging words for her family and friends and was a real inspiration to them. She was a lover of animals, the outdoors and flowers. She spent most of her time in her yards. It was her wish that her ashes be scattered among her trees and flowers. She leaves to mourn her passing, her husband of more than 40 years, Lowell Ray Askren; two daughters, Lisa Askren Cook, Augusta and Wanda Sue Askren of the home; a son, Lowell Ray Askren, II, Langley, SC; three grandchildren, Dale Cook, William Askren and Lowell Ray Askren, III; her mother, Margaret L. Powell, Johnston, SC; a sister, Louise P. Jobe, Aiken, SC; a brother-in-law, Junior Johnson, Stiefletown, SC and aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her fath er, Marvin Powell and a sister, Linda P. Johnson. Funeral services will be private.
