Rants and Raves

Comments from readers:

AUGUSTA-RICHMOND COUNTY is a corporation composed of many departments, employs hundreds of people, and has large sums of money flowing both in and out. I hope that when it is time to elect commissioners again, the people will choose someone who has a firm background in finance and business structures, so that there will be less contention and charges of racism among the group. Prove that someone is not doing their job? No! Prove that they are. Neither sex nor color is the issue.

IN READING (SATURDAY'S) article on the Canal Authority, I have suddenly realized what is wrong with the political system in Augusta. Here they have taken a talented and dedicated architect off the Canal Authority and appointed somebody who is a commissioner's friend to replace him. Such a system of political spoils holds back the Canal Authority from the great progress it has made over the last 10 years. I wish we could go back to the old system where the people on the authority are those with expertise, not friends of the commissioners.

A rant for The Augusta Chronicle. I agree with the reader that the Parade is a much better magazine section than USA Today. You say that many readers like USA Today. Why not run a poll in the paper or on the Internet asking, "Do you want the Parade or would you like USA Today?" I would venture a guess that the majority by far would like the Parade, which is a much more informative and educational supplement.

A RAVE FOR THE AUGUSTA Chronicle. Everybody always calls in to complain, complain, complain. You guys have a great newspaper. For the person who said she couldn't believe racing's on the front page of the newspaper: Move back to whatever city you come from if you don't like it.

I AM SO SICK AND TIRED of these people scratching my money to see if it's counterfeit. I wish they would tell me what it means. I'm certainly not going to get myself in trouble like that. What I don't have, I don't have. They need to get this money straightened out before it leaves the bank and let it be checked out some other way. It's very disrespectful to the people.
