ATLANTA - Wes Hodges hit two home runs and Jason Neighborgall pitched six strong innings to lead Georgia Tech to an 11-6 win over Rutgers on Friday.
The Scarlet Knights (3-1) cut the lead to 3-2 in the fifth inning on a Todd Frazier run-scoring single.
But the Yellow Jackets (7-1) responded with an eight-run sixth. Hodges opened with a solo homer, Danny Payne and Jeremy Slayden each had two-run singles, Jeff Kindel and Mike Trapani had RBI singles, and Steven Blackwood drove in a run on a bases-loaded walk.
Neighborgall (2-0) struck out six, allowed two runs and two walks.
Rutgers starter Tom Malifronte (0-1) gave up five runs and six hits in five innings. Frazier went 3-for-4 with a homer and four RBIs.
