Homeruns lift Gamecocks



COLUMBIA, SC - Brendan Winn homered twice, including a grand slam, and Steven Tolleson hit a two-run shot Sunday to lead South Carolina to a 7-4 win and against Radford.

The Gamecocks (6-0) had to battle back from a first inning three-run deficit when starting pitcher Forrest Beverly gave up four hits. Andrew Cruse relieved for 5 1/3 innings and earned his first career victory.

Conor Lalor pitched the final three innings to earn his first save. He retired nine batters in a row, five of them by strikeout.

Radford (1-5) started the first with four singles and a hit batter to jump out to the early lead. Jesse Ross led the offense with two hits.

Mark Fleisher (1-1) gave up all seven runs on four hits in six innings to take the loss.
