Mr. Clifton Widener (MONTMORENCI, S.C.)



MONTMORENCI, S.C. - Mr. Clifton Widener, 83, of Church St., husband of the late Dolores Rutland Widener, died Sunday, February 20, 2005 at Aiken Regional Medical Centers. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 2:00 PM at Darien Baptist Church. He will be laid to rest beside his wife of 60 years in the church cemetery. A native and lifelong resident of Aiken County, Mr. Widener was a son of the late Johnnie and Larkie Sizemore Widener. He was a retired motor grader operator for Aiken County, and was a former deputy sheriff working in the Aiken County Correctional Facility. He was a member and former deacon at Darien Baptist Church. Survivors, include his children, Powell C. Widener, Holley Ridge, NC, Howard Haskell Widener, Hepzabah, GA, Gayle Shealy and Sandra W. Gobbel, both of Gilbert, SC, Patricia D. Widener, Fountain, Inn, Pete Widener, Montmorenci, Lois McLain, Irmo, SC, Robin L. Widener and Cliffette W. Spires, both of Montmorenci. Twenty thre e grandchildren, thirty six great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild also survive. Pallbearers will be his grandsons; Jimmy Widener, Robert Lewis, Chuck Burkett, Jeremy Widener, Jeff Bacon and Charles McLain. Memorial contributions may be directed to the American Cancer Society.
