Here's my strategy on the Cold War: We win, they lose.

- President Reagan

What better way to mark Presidents Day weekend than with our annual White House quiz? See if you can guess the presidents from the clues, and remember, all visited Augusta at some point.

clues:

1. This president visited Augusta, and so did his mother. In an interview with this newspaper, she surprised a reporter by describing the baby version of the chief executive as "an ugly little thing."

2. This president liked golf, good times and, reportedly, younger women. He died in office.

3. This president liked golf, good times and, reportedly, younger women. His wife successfully ran for Senate.

4. This president came to Augusta to play golf but preferred going home to his ranch to ride horses.

5. They say this president couldn't read until he was 9. He eventually became president of one of our nation's most prestigious universities.

6. This president followed a time-honored path to financial success - he married a rich widow. Naturally, America recognizes his business sense by putting him on two of the most common forms of U.S. currency.

7. Known for a doctrine he didn't write, this president is one of three who died on the Fourth of July.

8. The only two-term president who did not serve consecutive terms, he also is the only president who was a sheriff.

9. Although he won his presidential race convincingly, this president's nickname of "Landslide" was actually a joke from a closer early race.

10 The only president who enjoyed a membership at Augusta National Golf Club.

ANSWERS:

1. That would be Jimmy Carter, whose candid mother, Miss Lillian, was prone to bumming cigarettes off reporters

2. Warren G. Harding, the only newspaperman to be elected president

3. Bill Clinton (Remember him?)

4. Ronald Reagan

5. Woodrow Wilson. The slow-learning preacher's kid became the president of Princeton.

6. George Washington, who conveniently married the wealthiest widow in Virginia

7. James Monroe

8. Grover Cleveland, who began his political career as the county sheriff in Buffalo, N.Y.

9. Lyndon Johnson, who won his way into the U.S. Senate by a questionable 87 votes

10. Dwight D. Eisenhower. He loved golf, although fellow Augusta National member Ty Cobb was once heard to yell at the one-time commander in chief, accusing him of slow play.
