Baseball: South Carolina routs Longwood



COLUMBIA, S.C. - Steven Tolleson and Cory Vanderhook had three hits apiece to lead South Carolina to a 13-3 win over Longwood on Sunday.

Brendan win added a homer and Wynn Pelzer (1-0) pitched two hitless innings for the Gamecocks (3-0), who swept their first weekend series.

South Carolina led 8-0 after two innings. Tolleson drove in the first of his three RBI, Ryan Mahoney had a two-run double and Vanderhook doubled to get the fourth run home in the first inning.

Forrest Beverly made the start for South Carolina, his first outing in nearly two years after arm surgery. He pitched four innings.

Isaac Weiderman (0-2) lasted less than two innings, giving up five earned runs on seven hits.
