Turner fires 64 to lead Augusta State
Emmett Turner tied the Augusta State 18-hole school record with 8-under-par 64 as Augusta State shot 18-under 270 to place third after the first round of the Waikoloa Intercollegiate in Waikoloa, Hawaii.
Turner, a senior, is in a three-way tie for the individual lead. His 64 matched the record set by Oliver Wilson in 2003.
The 12th-ranked Jaguars are six shots behind leader Oklahoma State and five behind Southern California.
Rounding out the Augusta scorers, Scott Jamieson had 66, Wallace Booth 69 and Kalle Edberg 71. Major Manning's 73 was thrown out since each team counted the low four scores.
The tournament, being played at Waikoloa Village Golf Club's Kings' Course, continues today and concludes Friday.
The Lady Jaguars shot 311-307 at Stoneybrook Country Club, finishing 35 shots behind winner Georgia State.
Freshman Kristen Bragg had a career-best even-par 72 in the final round and led the Lady Jaguars with 8-over-par 152. She was followed by Lauren May (74-79ñ153), Kelly McGurk (79-76ñ155), Patti Hogeboom (78-81ñ159) and Brooke Hixon (80-80ñ160).
Augusta State's next tournament is March 11-13 in the Lady Gamecock Invitational in Columbia.

Barth will try for school mark today
Wednesday's game between Augusta State and Presbyterian at Jaguar Field was rained out and has been rescheduled for 2 p.m., Feb. 15.

Barth has hit in 37 consecutive games, matching the mark set by former outfielder JuJu Foreman.
The Jaguars (2-1) open Peach Belt Conference play at 12:30 p.m. Saturday when they play host to Columbus State in the first game of a doubleheader.
