As a new resident, I was delighted to see the Jan. 29 front-page article "Proposal aims to bring money to poor areas," an idea being pursued by state Rep. Sue Burmeister, R-Augusta.
Because of the Augusta National Golf Club, Augusta has a great image around the country, and well-deserved. We need to expand on the latter, and give the city the power to form special tax districts to entice development. I envision a refurbished Broad Street that would be the envy of adjacent communities.
Let's extend our No. 1 position beyond golf.
