Mrs. Evelyn King Holley (AUGUSTA, Ga.)



AUGUSTA, Ga. - Entered into rest January 31, 2005, at Beverly Manor, Mrs. Evelyn King Holley, a native of Pinetucky in Richmond County. Mrs. Holley graduated from Blythe High School, Augusta Junior College and the Sand Hills Workshop for Teachers. She taught at Gracewood Elementary School from 1932-1937. Mrs. Holley took an L.P.N. Course at University Hospital School of Nursing to better care for her infirmed relatives. From 1957 until 1982, she cared for her mother, brother, husband and elderly aunt. She also worked as an LPN at University Hospital and as a private duty nurse for a number of years. Mrs. Holley loved the Lord Jesus and doing his work. She faithfully supported many ministries and missionaries here and abroad. She was His diligent servant to the end. She was a member of Mann Memorial Methodist Church since the early 1940's. She was a member of the Edwards Sunday School Class, and The U.M.W. She was also a Sunday School Teacher and on the Administrative Board and Council on Ministries. Mrs. Holley was the last of eight children, all of whom preceded her in death. She is survived by her nieces and nephews: Patricia Boose, Dixie Bralley, Jane Merritt, Betty Eubanks, Helen Gay, Betty Rhodes, and R. E. Gladdin of Augusta; Darlene Miller, Bernard Rocky Hendrix, and Bernie Hendrix of Martinez; Virginia Slade New Port Richey, Florida; Mary Godwin of Cheraw SC. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, February 3, 2005 at 2:00 p.m. at Mann Memorial United Methodist Church. Rev. Tom Compton, Rev. Karon Compton and Rev. Roger Stone will officiate. The family will receive friends Thursday, one hour prior to the service at Mann Memorial. Pallbearers will be great nephews. Interment will be in Blythe United Methodist Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mann Memorial United Methodist Church, 2705 Milledgeville Rd., Augusta, GA 30904.
