Mrs. Helen Corley Clarke (HEPHZIBAH, Ga.)



HEPHZIBAH, Ga. - Helen Corley Clarke, 73 of Hephzibah, GA entered into rest at University Hospital on Friday, January 28, 2005. Helen Corley Clarke beloved wife for 56 years of Hammond C. Clarke, Sr. They were married on November 7, 1948. She was a native of Burke County. Mrs. Clarke was retired from First Union Bank (formerly GARRBK). She was a faithful member of Hopeful Baptist Church of which she served as church clerk for 25 years. She was a choir member, secretary-treasurer of the WMU, taught youth Sunday school class, and served in these positions for many years. In addition to her husband, she is survived by a son, Hammond "Hank" C. Clarke, Jr. and wife Wren; daughters, Kimberly Helen Clarke and Jan Corley Clarke, all of Hephzibah; grandchildren, Melissa Faith Clarke of Duluth, GA, Hope Nicole Clarke McLain and husband, Barry of Hephzibah, Jonathan Hart of Hephzibah. Several nieces and nephews also survive. Mrs. Clarke was prec eded in death by her parents, Sam and Georgia Loren Corley and siblings, Sam Corley, Jr., Dorothy Corley Clarke, Burke Broxton. Mrs. Clarke was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 PM on Monday, January 31, 2005 at Hopeful Baptist Church with the Rev. John Bolineau, Rev. Chuck Carswell and Rev. Greg Glover officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Pallbearers will be Bobby Lowe, Wendell Stinchcumb, Larry Cliatt, Jimmy Williamson, Louis Hrabousky and E.C. Helmly. The family will receive friend at DeLoach-Kennedy Funeral Home Hephzibah Chapel on Sunday, January 30, 2005 from 6-8 PM. Mrs. Helen Corley Clarke fought the battle of Lymphoma for 6 Ú years and was an encouragement and inspiration to others. She will be remembered and loved for her kindness and generosity to others.
