Salaries released for Clemson aides

Clemson's new offensive and defensive coordinators will be paid $175,000 during each year of their two-year contracts.

The school released the salaries Monday after a Freedom of Information request by The (Columbia) State.

New offensive coordinator Rob Spence and defensive coordinator Vic Koenning were hired this month by coach Tommy Bowden, who said his team needed a shake up after a disappointing 6-5 record.

Under one-year contracts last season, former offensive coordinator Mike O'Cain made $133,000 and former defensive coordinator John Lovett received $139,050. Both were fired Nov. 30.

Running backs coach Burton Burns received a $33,910 raise, bumping his salary to $140,000 in a two-year contract, and offensive line coach Brad Scott had his base salary increase by $12,083 to $150,000.

Burns and Scott received raises from Clemson after new South Carolina coach Steve Spurrier offered them positions with the Gamecocks.

New defensive line coach Marion Hobby, who takes over for linebackers coach Thielen Smith who was let go, will make $120,000 with a one-year contract. Smith made $93,571 last season.

Figure Skating

Totmianina makes impressive return

In Turin, Italy, Tatiana Tot¤mianina made an impressive return to international competition at the European Figure Skating Championships, three months after a fall left her unconscious on the ice.

Totmianina and her partner, Maxim Marinin, who are based in Chicago, led the pairs standings after the short program. Their soft skating to Ave Maria was in sharp contrast to their last performance at an international meet. Label Headovertime
