MUSICAL TUESDAYS: Tuesday's Music Live will present New York's Manhattan Piano Trio in a Blanche Coleman Memorial Concert at noon at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 605 Reynolds St. Skyline Cafe will prepare lunch. PLAY AUDITIONS: Auditions for the University of South Carolina Aiken Department of Visual and Performing Arts' presentation of Smoke on the Mountain will be held at 7 p.m. at the Etherredge Center, 471 University Parkway. SPECIAL SPEAKER: The Augusta Jewish Federation is presenting a special speaker at 6:45 p.m. at Congregation Children of Israel, 3005 Walton Way. Shelley Rose, associate director of the Anti-Defamation League, will speak on hot issues facing the Georgia Legislature, including the Ten Commandments, funding faith-based organizations and hate crime legislation. WADLEY, Ga. -- A mass meeting of citizens of this community was held last night in the school auditorium to air opinions on the governorship issue.
Resolutions were adopted opposing the action of the General Assembly of Georgia in electing a governor for the state, and asking the assembly to adjourn until the issue could be settled by the Superior Court.
J. Will Overstreet, senator from this district, was present and was given a vote of appreciation for the stand he has taken in the matter.
