Rants and Raves

Comments from readers:

THE BIBLE SAYS the love of money is the root of all evil.

BELIEVE IT OR NOT, there are some honest attorneys out there.

THIS IS ABOUT THE PARENT who spoke at the Richmond County Board of Education about the discipline problem and the problem he had getting information from the Board of Education. It's like that for the employees, too. Parents need to unite and raise a stink about getting rid of Dr. Larke and his administration. They're not doing their job. They're not being fair to all the students and employees. So, parents, please speak out. Yell out. Demand the board do their job. It's time for a change, a big change.

I WONDER WHEN the mayor of Harlem is going to see that these people get their buildings cleaned up. These buildings are turning green and filthy, homes and apartments. Something needs to be done with spring coming on.

I WOULD LIKE TO COMMEND the sheriff's deputies who pulled over five cars Thursday evening on Industrial Park Road. They ignored the no passing line to get in front of other cars waiting to get in the left lane on Washington Road. This happens every afternoon when traffic is heavy. Several times, cars coming onto Industrial Park Road have almost been run off the road by these violators. Thanks again, deputies. The life you saved might be mine.

I PERSONALLY THINK $10 million and up should not be spent on an inauguration for Bush's second term as our president. He has been asking Americans to dig deep in their pockets to help out with the Asian disaster. Why not for go all the festivities to have Bush sworn in and use that money for all the victims in Asia who are in dire need of their existence?

MY RANT IS FOR people who buy new cars and never research the safety, quality or resale value. They will find out what they bought when (they) go to trade or sell that now-used car. People, do your research.

THIS IS A RAVE TO MY two co-workers Ms. Anderson and Mr. Page at the Bi-Lo on Deans Bridge Road. They found eight abandoned puppies at the Dumpster behind the store.... They put them in a box and brought them to the front of the store, and within 30 minutes, they found a home for all seven and buried the one that didn't make it.

I AM JUST AS OPPOSED to the greedy lawyers as anyone else, but who is to say when is the right time to approach people about their rights to sue? If you wait, the other guy will get the business and you'll be left out. Come on, this is business as usual.

YET AGAIN, THE CHRONICLE shows itself as a walking contradiction, condemning the slimy lawyers but then turning around and taking their money to place quarter-page ads throughout their paper. Oh, you give me a laugh almost daily or at least every time I read your paper.

A RANT FOR THE LAWYERS running the large ads in the Augusta papers. Why don't they tell the truth and tell the people they're going to try to get a settlement for them but they're going to keep the biggest portion of it for themselves for their personal expenses and selfish greed?

I THINK WE NEED an investigation. We need a private appraiser to come in and see how much Marion Williams' church is really worth. I'd guess about $60,000 tops ñ for a 35-member church that small couldn't possibly be worth the money being paid for it....

ANOTHER RAVE FOR the marching bands in the Rose Parade. I, too, agree they were first class. How refreshing.
