Chronicle looking for hoops statistics
Individual basketball player statistics are due every Wednesday at noon, no exceptions.
The Augusta Chronicle will publish a listing of area leaders in the following categories: Points, rebounds, assists and steals per game. Other categories where leaders will be tracked will be: field goal percentage, free throw percentage and 3-point field goal percentage. The weekly statistics will run each Friday, beginning Jan. 14.

Soccer
Beam earns second national selection
Richmond Academy forward Cline Beam has earned his second consecutive selection to the National Soccer Coaches Association of America team. Beam was selected to the 2004 NSCAA/Adidas Youth Boys All-America soccer squad.
An average of less than two players per state receive this recognition.
Beam, a senior, finished his junior season at Richmond Academy with 39 goals and was a key ingredient on the Musketeers' Class AAA state co-champion team. He committed earlier this season to play at Wake Forest.
Cycling
Armstrong remains undecided on Tour
Lance Armstrong remained uncommitted when asked if he will try to win a seventh consecutive Tour de France, but he made it clear his focus this year will be winning some of the spring classic races that have always taken a back seat on his cycling calendar.
"I'll definitely be in France this summer," Armstrong said. "It just might not be on the bike."
College Baseball
NCAA wants uniform calendar for teams
College baseball teams would have to conform to specific dates for starting practice and games under an NCAA proposal that also would push the College World Series into July some years.
The Division I Baseball Issues Committee said a uniform calendar would address some competitive equality questions, including warm-weather teams getting a head start on the season over programs in extremely cold climates.
The committee is proposing Feb. 1 as the first practice date, with games to start March 1.
Dakar Rally
Perez becomes 30th person to die in rally
In Madrid, Spain, Spanish motorcyclist Jose Manuel Perez, 40, injured last week in the Dakar Rally, died Monday, a hospital in Alicante, Spain, said.
Following an accident on the rally's seventh stage in Mauritania, Africa , Perez's underwent surgery. More than 30 people have died in conjunction with the rally since it was first held in 1979. Prep Basketball
