Ski and Outing Club meets: The Augusta Ski and Outing Club will meet at 7 p.m. at Lone Star Cafe, 2744 Washington Road. The meeting is open to people who enjoy snow skiing, boating, camping, cycling and other types of outdoor recreation. For more information, call 279-6186.

Brown Bag series: The Augusta Museum of History will hold its monthly Brown Bag History Series at noon at the museum, 560 Reynolds St. Dr. Helen Callahan, a retired professor of history at Augusta State University, will speak on Rhymes of Tudor Times, which looks at the history and political significance of childhood nursery rhymes. Amateur radio classes: Entry-level amateur radio classes will begin at 7 p.m. at Aiken Preparatory School, 619 Barnwell Ave. N.W. The class, taught by the North Augusta/Belvedere Radio Club, will provide information on Skywarn and other emergency communications to help protect yourself and the community. The classes are free. Moms Club meeting: The Aiken Moms Club will hold its monthly meeting at 10:30 a.m. at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 117 Hard St., New Ellenton. The club will plan the activities calendar for February. Town and Country Club meeting: The Aiken Town and Country Club meeting will be held at 9:30 a.m. at The Etherredge Center, 471 University Parkway, Aiken. An oyster supper and smoker was held at the Junior Order Hall on Walton Way last night to present Mayor William B. Bell a handsome gold watch from his many friends throughout the city.
A number of addresses were made. Mr. Bell responded in a few chosen words, assuring his friends of his appreciations, and he promised to do his utmost to give them an economical administration.
VARICOSE VEINS

TOO MUCH TOOTHPASTE
The American Dental Association says too much toothpaste can be bad for children because it increases the chances of permanent tooth discoloration that comes with too much fluoride. Children should be limited to a pea-size amount of toothpaste.
