Mrs. Virginia Ashmore Brown (AUGUSTA, Ga.)



AUGUSTA, Ga. - Entered into rest on Monday, December 27, 2004 at Doctor's Hospital, Mrs. Virginia Ashmore Brown, wife of the late James David Brown. Mrs. Brown was born in Lincoln County, GA and lived in Augusta since 1941. She was a member of the Church of God of Prophecy on Gardner St. and was a retired catalog salesperson with Sears & Roebuck and Co. Survivors include daughters, Brenda Mercer and her husband Tom of Martinez, GA, and Judy Barber of Evans, GA.; sons, Arlen Brown and his wife Jackie of Martinez, GA, Lanier Brown of Augusta and Ed Brown of Martinez, GA.; ten grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, one great-great grandchild, sisters, Lester Sheafe, Matilda Finley, Margaret White, Laura Bussey, Sadie Womack and Polly Reese; brothers, Nathaniel Ashmore, T.G. Ashmore and J.R. Ashmore. She was preceded in death by her daughter Carolyn Jeanette Brown, brother; Clyde Ashmore and sisters; Maudie Quarles and Blan che Ashley. Funeral services will be Wednesday, December 29, 2004, 1:00 P.M. in the Chapel of Thomas Poteet & Son Funeral Directors with the Rev. Pierce Norman officiating. Pallbearers are Keith Brown, Kevin Brown, Bo Sibilsky, Dale Suggs, Darryl Whaley and Edgar Rooks. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial park.
