Area sports announcements

Baseball

 •  The 8-and-under Georgia Futures baseball team is looking for players for the 2005 season. For more information, call Robbie Shearer at 863-8196 or Steve Anderson at 650-0353.

 •  Pendleton Baseball is now registering for January programs, designed to get players ages 13-18 ready for the season. Winter workouts are also available for ages 8-12. High school coaches are invited to ask about the use of Pendleton's indoor facilities. For more information, call George Blackburn at (803) 270-0362.

Basketball

 •  The Clint Bryant Skills and Drills basketball clinic will be held Monday through Wednesday from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. at Riverview Park. The clinic is for boys and girls in grades 1-8 who are just beginning or want to play at a competitive level. Cost is $85 and includes lunch and a T-shirt.  •  The Holiday Round Ball Classic will be held at T.W. Josey High School Monday through Wednesday. Competing teams will be: Aiken boys, Richmond Academy, Butler, Cross Creek, Glenn Hills, Josey, Laney, Westside, and North Augusta girls. Games will begin at 10 a.m. each day. Fans will receive $1 off of the $5 admission fee if they bring a new unwrapped toy for the Toys for Tots campaign.

 •  Summer Madness preseason basketball skills clinic will be held Dec. 28-30 at Garrett Community Center from 9:30 a.m. until 3:30 p.m., for ages 10-14. Cost will be $50 and includes lunch. For more information, call Shaun Bradley at (706) 786-5549 or email shaun99@bellsouth.net.

Football

 •  The Ray Guy Kicking Academy and Talent Search will be held Dec. 27-28 at ARC Stadium. The Academy is open to kickers and punters of any age. Tuition costs $350. For more information, call American Football Specialists at (270) 843-8393 or go to www.prokicker.com.

 •  The Palmetto Dragons will hold open player tryouts Jan. 8 at Citizens Park. Registration fee will be $50. Participants are required to wear appropriate attire for non-contact football drills. For more information, call Robert Molina at (803) 270-0750 or Jimmy Cronan at (706) 284-9108.

Tennis

 •  Petersburg Racquet Club will offer free tennis lessons Dec. 20-22. Lessons are open to any child ages 7-17 who are not participating in a tennis program. Lessons are from 12:30-2 p.m.each day.
