  • Thomas Tully has joined A. G. Edwards & Sons as a financial consultant. He has a master's degree in public administration and was formally the assistant county manager in Floyd County, Ga. He also earned an accredited asset management specialist certification from the College of Financial Planning.
  • Nanci Elise Collins has been named editor of The Business Observer magazine. She has been a freelance journalist and technical editor for more than 16 years. She has a bachelor's degree in communications from Augusta State University and an associate's degree as a certified internet webmaster from West Memphis University.
  • Kendra Strowbridge has been promoted from juvenile correctional officer to lieutenant by the state Department of Juvenile Justice. She has two years of experience with the department and has worked at the Augusta Youth Detention Center since October.
  • David A. Towles has joined Harbor House, a national publishing house in Augusta, as director of marketing and sales. He is responsible for national book sales and distribution, in addition to media coordination and promotions for 20 Harbor House authors. The Aiken County resident has more than 12 years of public relations, marketing and media relations experience, in addition to more than 25 years of sales experience.
  • David Dust has joined the Augusta office of Allen Corp. of America as a graphic artist. Kurt Huttar has joined the office as a system engineer and network administrator. Pete Redmond has joined the office as a medical writer and editor.
  • Arlene Miller of AmeriGroup Insurance has been named vice president of group sales for the Georgia, Tennessee and North and South Carolina region. Ms. Miller, who has more than 15 years of experience in group and individual sales, also will supervise recruiting and training in the territory.
  • Donna Prosser has been appointed to vice president of Augusta Staffing, Office and Professional Division. Ms. Prosser started with the company's affiliate, Job Shop Inc., as a branch manager in 1998. She was promoted to operations manager of Augusta Staffing in 2002.
  • Joseph T. DiPiro, assistant dean for pharmacy programs at the Medical College of Georgia, has been appointed executive dean of the integrated Medical University of South Carolina pharmacy education program.

  • The December issue of AmLaw Tech Magazine ranked Kilpatrick Stockton's Technology Training Department No. 1 in the nation and the firm's Information Technology Department No. 7 overall, out of 148 law firms.
  • Walton Rehabilitation Hospital has received accreditation in comprehensive inpatient rehabilitation and brain injury inpatient, outpatient, and residential services from The Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities.
  • The following people have been named officers for the Aiken Partnership Board at the University of University of South Carolina Aiken: Jeff P. Spears, president, CSRA market president of Wachovia Bank; Steven D. Sucher, vice president, development service leader of human resources for Bridgestone/Firestone South Carolina; June H. Murff, secretary, former president of the Greater Aiken Chamber of Commerce; Frank M. Thomas Jr., treasurer, senior vice president, Security Federal Bank; and John A. Oakland, board member, former presi-dent of Bechtel Savannah River Inc.
  • Frank Lee was the top volume producer for First Bank Mortgage in November. Bronnie Spinks was the bank's top unit producer for the month.
  • James L. Perkins retired from First Vehicle Services after a combined 34 years working for the company, a city government contractor, and the city of Augusta. Mr. Perkins began his career with the government in 1970 with the Augusta Recreation Department. He spent the last nine years working in the Fleet Maintenance Division run by First Vehicle Services.
  • Dr. William K. Dolen, professor of pediatrics in the Section of Allergy and Immunology in the Medical College of Georgia School of Medicine, has been elected president-elect of the American College of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology at the group's annual meeting. Dr. Dolen joined the MCG faculty in 1992.
  • Dr. David J. Terris, chairman of the MCG Department of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery, has been elected to a two-year term on the board of directors of the Association of Academic Departments of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery. Dr. Terris came to MCG as department chairman in 2002.
  • Jim McMurrain was named loan officer of the month at SouthTrust Mortgage for being the top volume producer of closed loans and the top producer of new loan applications in November.
  • James R. Lyle, executive director of the Richmond County Medical Society, was named a recipient of The Donna Glass Non-Physician Distinguished Service Award by the Medical Association of Georgia.
  • Dr. Terrence J. Cook, an Augusta specialist in allergy and clinical immunology, was named a recipient of the Joseph P. Bailey Jr. Distinguished Service Award by the Medical Association of Georgia. Dr. Cook, chairman of the Richmond County Medical Society, was a 1994 recipient of the association's Charles R. Drew Award.
  • Superior Office Systems Inc. of North Augusta announced it has been authorized by Panasonic and Toshiba to sell and service copiers, printers and facsimile machines.
  • Solo Cup Co. recognized the following employees with multi-year service awards: Robert Bailey, 35 years; David Rushton, Tom Usry and Betty Glasker, 25 years; Barry Adams, Will Judy, Montie Agee, Johnnie Conder, Jack Filiatreau, Norman Sax, David Price, James DeLoach, David Rice, Bill Markwalter and Mike Russell, 20 years; George Black, 15 years; Mike Kelly and Alex Gibson, 10 years; and A.K. Phimsoutham, five years.
