He still 'feels good'

James Brown's millions of fans around the world were distressed to hear "the Godfather of Soul" has prostate cancer. The world renowned rock legend, who has deep roots in Augusta, announced he will undergo surgery for the disease Dec. 15.

It is always sad to learn that a beloved celebrity has taken sick, yet by the same token that person's fight to live can educate the public about the disease he has and inspire others similarly afflicted to wage their own courageous battles.

Brown, also known as "the hardest working man in show business," sure doesn't talk like he's going to let his cancer slow him down. He finished his Canadian rock-'n'-roll tour the night before he announced his illness and plans to resume his tour to Asia and Australia soon after taking three weeks off to recuperate from surgery.

He'll also be releasing his autobiography, I Feel Good: A Memoir of a Life of Soul.

"I have overcome a lot of things in my life," he said. "I will overcome this (cancer) as well."

Even though Brown is 71 and also suffers from diabetes, we join his loved ones and fans in sharing his confidence that he will recover. Not even cancer can drain the soul man's energy, zest and enthusiasm for life.
