Lady Bulldogs get third loss of season



ATHENS, Ga. -- Kylan Loney had five 3s among her 23 points, and Arizona State used 24 turnovers by 11th-ranked Georgia to win 67-57 on Tuesday night.

The Sun Devils (7-1) scored 30 points off the turnovers.

That negated 59 percent shooting by the Lady Dogs (5-3), who got 16 points from Tasha Humphrey.

Georgia held a 26-25 halftime lead, but Arizona State had a spurt over an 8-minute stretch of the second half to build a 52-38 edge with 9:56 to play. Emily Westerberg scored six of her 10 points during the stretch.

Cori Chambers added 13 points for Georgia. Georgia's was up 24-13 before Arizona State dominated the final five minutes of the first half with a 12-2 run. Boardman's 3-pointer ended a scoring drought of more than five minutes by the Sun Devils.

Loney made a layup with two seconds to play in the half to cut the deficit to a point at the break.

No. 8 Connecticut 55, Hartford 32

In Hartford, Conn., Barbara Turner had 17 points, 11 rebounds and two blocked shots to lead Connecticut to victory.

Turner was the only player in double figures for UConn (4-1), which had a previous low this season of 65 points in a 71-65 loss last month to North Carolina.

No. 19 Maryland 91,

St. Bonaventure 42

In College Park, Md., Shay Doron scored 25 points to lead five Maryland players in double figures, and the Terrapins cruised to victory over St. Bonaventure.

Crystal Langhorne scored 12 points, Ash­leigh Newman 11 for the Terrapins (6-1).

Depaul: In Chicago, guard Charlene Smith is out indefinitely after injuring her right knee during the 15th-ranked Blue Demons' game against Loyola of Chicago.

An MRI revealed that the 5-foot-8 senior tore her ACL and sprained her MCL in the game Monday.

She is averaging 11 points in six games for unbeaten DePaul.
