Mr. James P. Dillard (HARLEM, Ga.)

HARLEM, Ga. - Entered into rest November 4, 2004 at his residence, Mr. James Preston Dillard, husband of Mrs. Opal Jones Dillard, of George Walton Drive, Harlem, Ga. Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, November 6, 2004, in the Bellevue Memorial Gardens, near Grovetown, with the Rev. Randall Whitaker officiating with military honors. Mr. Dillard, a native of High Shoals, North Carolina, had retired from the Army and had served in Korea, Vietnam, and Germany. He had also retired from the Gerald Jones Auto Dealership. Mr. Dillard was a volunteer for the PVA Fishing Tournament and was a Camp Host for the Fort Gordon Rec Area. He was a member of Powell Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife Opal Jones Dillard; one son, James R. Dillard and wife, Leslie Ann, of Harlem; three daughters Barbara J. Banning and husband, Michael, of Appling, Jamie A. Mims and husband Greg, of Evans, and H. Faye Knight and husband, Timothy, of Harlem; seven grandchildren, Marcus A. Banning, Jeff D. Mims, Kelleye M. Mims, Lance J. Davis, James Lawrence Dillard, Erika A. Dillard, and Ciara M. Dillard and his mother, Faye R. Dillard of Appling. If so desired, memorials may be made to the Powell Baptist Church Music Fund, 1577 Old Appling Harlem Hwy, Harlem, Ga. 30814. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at Starling Funeral Home hwy 78, Harlem, Ga. 706-556-6524.
