Mr. Robert L. Mims, Sr. (AUGUSTA, Ga.)



AUGUSTA, Ga. - Mr. Robert L. Mims, Sr., 76, husband of Mary E. Mims entered into rest Thursday, October 28, 2004 at his residence. Mr. Mims was a native of Hephzibah, the son of the late Fred H. and Nellie Ray Mims, Sr. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran of World War II, a retired Insurance Agent with Interstate Life and Accident Insurance Company and was also in the Real Estate Business. He was a member of Lumpkin Road Baptist Church where he attended the Ambassador Sunday School Class. Family members include his wife Mary E. Mims, Augusta; a son, Robert L. "Bobby" Mims, Jr., Evans; two grandchildren, Tripp Mims and his wife Regina, Columbia, S.C. and Nicklaus Mims of Evans; three brothers, Miller Mims and David Mims both of Augusta, and Virgil Mims, Hephzibah; one sister, Virginia M. Dorn, Augusta; and two great grandchildren, Charlotte and Rachael. Funeral Services will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, October 30, 2004 at Poteet Funeral Home, South Chapel with Dr. Len Chavis and Rev. Don Stone officiating. Interment will follow at Hephzibah-Vance Cemetery. Visitation was held, Friday, October 29, 2004 from 7 until 9 p.m. at Poteet Funeral Home, South Chapel. The nephews of Mr. Mims will serve as the active pallbearers and honorary pallbearers will be the members of the Ambassador Sunday School class.
