Mrs. Thelma Cliett (AUGUSTA, Ga.)



AUGUSTA, Ga. - Thelma Louise McLaughlin Templeton Cliett, age 92, entered into rest on Friday, October 29, 2004 at her residence after a brief illness. Funeral services will be held Sunday, October 31, 2004 at 2 p.m. from Elliott Sons Funeral Home, Lumpkin Road Chapel with Reverend Keith Alderman officiating. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Michael P. McCombs, Howard Charles McCombs, John Daniel Rhodes, Jason McCombs, Austin McCombs, Jordan McCombs, Baylen Charles McCombs, Jordan McCombs, Charles Levy and Brad Hall. Honorary pallbearers will be Troy Rhodes, Dr. Beryl Tanenbaum, Aaron Tanenbaum, Ron Cliett and Charles Tant. Mrs. Cliett was a former member of Burns Memorial United Methodist Church; in her later years attended First Southern Methodist Church and most recently has found comfort in watching the Sunday services of Trinity on the Hill Methodist Church on television. Mrs. Cliett was a charter member of the Alice Warren Eastern Star and a founding member of the Aiken-Augusta Orchid Society. She was retired from the Telegraph office and was a bookkeeper for her first husbands' Fishing Tackle Business. She loved flowers and to work in the yard. She also loved children. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends. She loved to read and she liked to "crochet" baby blankets and booties. Survivors include two daughters, Dorothy Columbro, Lincolnton, Mrs. Betty (Jimmy) Dixon, Keysville; one stepdaughter, Mrs. Noel (Chloris) McGahee, Martinez; two stepsons, Ronald Cliett, Hephzibah and Delbert Cliett, Augusta; seven grandchildren, Mrs. Terrie (Gerald) Levy, Augusta, Mike (Tina) McCombs, Lincolnton, Chuck (Cathy) McCombs, Evans, Ms. Karen McCombs, Martinez, Ms. Bobbie Blackmon, Martinez, John (Erica) Rhodes, Aiken, S.C., Troy (Terrie) Rhodes, Waynesboro; eight step-grandchildren, Dr. Dwayne (Barbara) McGahee, Grovetown, Brandon McGahee, Atlanta, Troy (Christine) McGahee, Evans, Paul (Peggy) Mc Gahee, Waynesboro, Keith (Ruth) Cliett, California, Eric Cliett, Edgefield, S.C., Shannon (Steve) Self, Hephzibah and Robin (Andy) Seaborn, Grovetown. Mrs. Cliett also was blessed with 37 great grandchildren and nine great-great grandchildren. Special friends were Dr. and Mrs. Beryl Tanenbaum and Aaron and Mr. and Mrs. Truman (Sam) Woo. She is preceded in death by her second husband of 3 years, Postell Cliett, Charles Willis Templeton, her first husband of 55 years, her sister, Mrs. Helen McGinty and a granddaughter, Donna Rhodes. The family will receive friends Saturday, October 30, 2004 from 7-9 p.m. at Elliott Sons Funeral Home, 2524 Lumpkin Road.
