Performances and food will blend at Radisson Riverfront Hotel Augusta on Sunday.
The third annual Augusta Mini Theatre Alumni and Friends Chefs Showcase will be from 2 to 4:30 p.m. at the hotel.
"There will be a lot of fun, food, entertainment and fellowship," said Tyrone Butler, the founder and director of the mini theatre, a nonprofit arts agency on Eighth Street that offers classes in piano and drama.
"This year, in particular, we've invited many of our alumni back, so people will get an opportunity to meet the alumni, see what they're doing, then I think they'll see the value of our work," he said.
Some of the participants include the French Market Grille, Augusta Technical College's culinary arts school, White Elephant, Nacho Mamas, Blue Sky Kitchen, Special Occasions catering, Darlene and Georgia's Catering and Dearing Catering Service. Beverages will be provided by Augusta Coca-Cola Co.
As patrons sample the foods, professional actress and former Augusta Mini Theatre student Samantha Johnson will perform a scene from the Johnny Williams Story. Gospel singer Vivian Johnson Summers also will perform.
The showcase ends the mini theatre's annual fund-raising campaign and is held in celebration of the arts school's 29th anniversary, which is Friday, Mr. Butler said.
"It's like a homecoming, our first attempt at having a homecoming for our alumni. And any student that's been in the mini theatre and is now a high school graduate qualifies as an alumnus," Mr. Butler said.
Tickets cost $20 for adults and $10 for students through high school and may be purchased at the mini theatre or at the door. For more information, call 722-0598.
