Mr. James Monroe Lackey (AIKEN, S.C.)



AIKEN, S.C. - Funeral services for Mr. James Monroe Lackey will take place on Thursday, October 7 at 11 a.m. at Millbrook Baptist Church Chapel with Dr. James Rivers officiating. Interment will take place at Southlawn Cemetery and will be private for the family. Honorary pallbearers will be: Joseph Cunningham, James Cunningham, Dennis Vowell, Willis Collins, Welcome Short, Reed McGuire, Robert Cain and Glen McKinney. Visitation will be Wednesday 5-7p.m. at George Funeral Homes Historic Downtown Chapel 211 Park Ave. SW, Aiken. Memorial donations may be directed to: American Heart Association, 1003 Hammond Dr., Aiken, S.C. 29803, The Parkinson's Foundation 1501 N. W., 9th Ave., Miami, Fla. 33136 or to the charity of your choice. Mr. Lackey, 87, of Aiken, died Monday October 4 at Eden Gardens Health Care Center, Aiken. A son of the late George Lawrence and Linnie (Snowden) Lackey, he was born in Bailey, Mississippi and had lived in Aiken since 1952. He w as a retired steamfitter for B. F. Shaw, Co. and was a member of the Plumbers & Steamfitters Union Local #150. Mr. Lackey was a member of Millbrook Baptist Church. He was predeceased by his wife, Maurine Horton Lackey, who died in 2003. He is survived by two daughters, Glenda Bunce, Columbia and Judy (husband, Joseph R.) Cunningham, Aiken; a sister, Marie Davis, Meridian, Miss.; four grandchildren, Leah Bunce, Washington, D.C., Joseph (wife Crystal) Cunningham, Summerville, S.C., James A. Cunningham, Charleston, S.C. and Claire M. Cunningham, Charleston. She also leaves two nieces; Jacquelyn Wilson Chapman, Aiken and Peggy Joyce Wilson, Port St. Lucie, Fla.
