Mr. Boyd Maynard Aycock, Jr. (LINCOLNTON, Ga.)



LINCOLNTON, Ga.- Mr. Boyd Maynard Aycock, Jr., 85, of Sunrise Drive, husband of the late Edith McKinney Aycock, entered into rest on Sunday, September 19, 2004 at the Medical College of Georgia Hospital. Born in Lincoln County, he was the son of the late Boyd and Lucy Martin Aycock. He was a retired manager of Aycock Brothers Lumber Company. He was a member of the Lincolnton Baptist Church, where he served as a former deacon, Sunday School teacher in the primary and junior departments for over 40 years and he was also a member of the Brotherhood. Mr. Aycock was a veteran of World War II, a member of the American Legion and a member of the Lincolnton Masonic Lodge #354, serving as past Worshipful Master. He was a former treasurer, past worthy patron and charter member of the American Legion and a former treasurer, past worthy patron and charter member of the the Homer Legg Chapter #535 Order of the Eastern Star, a member of the Yarrab Temple Shrin e Club, Scottish Rite Body and a supervisor and treasurer of the Lincoln County Soil and Water Conservation District. He was a former Explorer Scout Leader and served 14 years on the Lincoln County School Board and 6 years on the Wilkes Academy Board of Trustees. He also served 36 years on the Lincolnton City Council. Survivors include a daughter, Patricia and husband, James "Coot" Henderson of Ninety Six, S.C.; three sons, Bobby Aycock of Minneapolis, Minn.; Marion and wife, Velda Aycock and Ronald and wife, Lisa Aycock, all of Lincolnton; eight grandchildren, Travis Aycock, Tripp Henderson and wife, Jennifer Henderson, Britney Aycock, Amberly Aycock, Marcianne Aycock, Russell Aycock and Laney Aycock; a great-grandchild, Maya Henderson; a sister, Lydia Jones and husband, George; a brother, James Edward Aycock and wife, Bobbie both of Lincolnton. Funeral services will be at 4 p.m. Tuesday, September 21, 2004, at Lincolnton Baptist Church with the Rev. Gary Johnson, Rev. Lanis Lewis and Rev. Robert Rayner officiating. Burial with Masonic rites will follow in the Lincolnton City Cemetery. Pallbearers are Travis Aycock, Russell Aycock, Tripp Henderson, Alex Aycock, Alva Aycock, Barney A. Aycock, Jr., Dwain Biggerstaff, Barry Chastain, Bob Dozier and Grady Ridlehover. Honorary pallbearers will be Deacons of the Lincolnton Baptist Church, Masons, Lincolnton City Councilmen, Soil and Water Commission, former employees of Aycock Brothers Lumber Company and men of Jip's Sit-A-Spell, Gene Goldman, Stephen Raiyner, Charles Ware, Michael Wengrow.
