Two men have been arrested by the North Augusta Department of Public Safety in connection with the display of obscene materials at various locations.
Authorities said they arrested Jonathon Nelson Johnson, 25, and Robert Marcus Boyd Oellerich, 26, both of North Augusta, and charged them with disseminating obscene materials to a minor.
The investigation began after a school official found more than two dozen obscene drawings taped to the exterior windows of Hammond Hill Elementary School on the morning of Aug. 31.
Along with the drawings, someone placed a drawing on the bulletin board at the North Augusta post office and created a larger sign depicting the same obscenities on a full-size sheet and hung it from the Greeneway Bridge over Martintown Road. The subsequent police investigation discovered photographs posted on a Web site that actually documented two men placing the drawings at all three locations.
Authorities said more investigation led police to the two suspects, who admitted their participation as part of an Internet contest in which the grand prize was a five-disc DVD player.
