SCHOOL: Jefferson County
POSITION: Running back
LAST WEEK: Walker ran for 235 yards on 27 carries and three touchdowns in a 35-2 thumping of Harlem. He's romped to 581 yards on 79 carries with seven touchdowns this year. He ran for 221 yards on 31 carries in a victory against Evans earlier this year. "Is that kid a senior?" Evans coach Marty Jackson said. "He is? Good. That young man was a load. You can quote me on that. We learned hard you can't take that man on up high. We missed 20 tackles against Jefferson. At least half of those were tackles Walker broke free from."
The senior is a tremendously stout player. He bench presses and power cleans over 300 pounds and can also squat 400-plus pounds. Walker, slowed by a stomach virus last week, said he was at about 80 percent against Harlem in his player-of-the-week effort.
WHAT HE'S SAYING: "I was cramping up real bad against Harlem and it wasn't my best effort, but I counted on my line. If I was a 100 percent, I probably could have ran for 350 yards, but my line helped me big last Friday. There were holes you could drive a tractor-trailer through. I was across the line and down the field 10 or 12 yards before I had to go through somebody."
