Mr. Hernan A. Floyd (AUGUSTA, Ga.)



AUGUSTA, Ga. - Entered into rest Saturday, August 21, 2004 at the Medical College of Georgia. Mr. Hernan Augustus Floyd, husband of Dr. Rosalyn Wright Floyd. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, August 26, 2004 at 11 a.m. from Elim Baptist Church where Dr. Charles E. Smith is pastor, Rev. Jerry Poole, Eulogy and Rev. J. S. Wright, Officiating. Interment services will be held at 2 p.m. (same day) at Memorial Gardens of Columbia (9301 Wilson Boulevard, Columbia, S.C.). Public Viewing will be this evening, Wednesday, August 25, 2004 from 7 p.m. until 9 p.m. at the funeral home. Mr. Floyd was born on December 2, 1944, son of the late Mamie Goodwin Floyd and J. Hernandez Floyd of Columbia, S.C. He was a graduate of C. A. Johnson High School and Morgan State College (now Morgan State University). In 1970, he received the Master of Business Administration degree in Finance from The Wharton Graduate Schoo l of the University of Pennsylvania. His banking career included positions with the following institutions; First National City Bank (now known as Citibank), N.Y.; the Export-Import Bank of the United States Washington, D.C.; and The Northern Trust Company, Chicago, Ill. After his return to the South, he volunteered to share his expertise with the students at Benedict College, Columbia, S.C. and Paine College. Continuing a family tradition of community service, he worked as a board member with the Consumer Credit Counseling of the CSRA, served as treasurer for the Elim Baptist Church Summer Enrichment Program. Mr. Floyd was a member of Elim Baptist Church and the Golden Agers Club of Elim. He was a life member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. and a member of the Ambassadors Bridge Club. Survivors are his loving and devoted wife, Rosalyn; devoted cousins, Mrs. Phoebe Ali, Augusta, Mr. and Mr. James Bryant and Mrs. Myrtle Mathis, all of Columbia, S.C.; father-in-law and mother-in-law , Mr. and Mrs. Regional A. Wright, Sr., Charleston, S.C.; brothers-in-law, Mr. Reginald A. Wright, Jr., Chicago and Mr. Orlando T. Wright, New Orleans; sisters-in-law, Mrs. Caroline Canty, Mauldin, S.C. and Mrs. Angela J. Wright, Tuscaloosa, Ala.; Goddaughter, Miss Milan Griffin, Washington, D.C.; nieces, Jasmyne Wright, Shari Wright, Bethany Wright, Regina Wright, and Patience Canty; a special nephew, Master Barron Canty, Jr. and a host of other loving cousins, relatives and friends.
