Mrs. Ada Vickers (CHESNEE, S.C.)

CHESNEE, S.C. - Ada Jean Horne Vickers of 221 Battleground Road, Chesnee, S.C., passed away on August 23, 2004 at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center. She was the daughter of the late Kanse and Edisto Griffin Horne. She was the loving and devoted wife of 55 years to M.L. "Bub" Vickers and devoted mother to all of her children. She was a devoted Christian and a member of Chesnee Wesleyan Church where she had served as Sunday school teacher, Children's Choir director, WMS president, YMWB director and local church board. She was a former substitute teacher at Chesnee High School. She enjoyed NASCAR racing being an avid fan of the late Dale Earnhardt. She also loved spending time with all her grandchildren and a new great-grandchild. She was predeceased by two brothers, Kanse Horne, Jr. and Dean Horne and a son-in-law Lamar Sperling. In addition to her husband she is survived by a son, Ronnie Vickers of the home; a daughter, Lori Vickers of the home; a son, Denn is Vickers and wife, Vickie of Chesnee; a daughter, Lisa Vickers Churchill and husband, Tim of Chesnee; a daughter, Lane Vickers Cash and husband, Timmy of Chesnee; sisters, Marie Vickers of Chesnee, Faye Lancaster of Spartanburg, Aileen Tinsley of North Augusta, S.C.; and a brother Marshall Parris of Beech Island, S.C. Grandmother to Julie Vinesett and husband, Jeff of Gaffney, and Nana to Jesse, Jacob, and Stacey Sperling and Jada Churchill, Trevor, Tori and Talon Cash and great-grandmother to Addie Vinesett. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, August 24, 2004 at Eggers Funeral Home in Chesnee. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, August 25, 2004 at 3 p.m. at Chesnee Wesleyan Church. Rev. T. C. Childs, Rev. Dan Belcher, and Rev. C. Ray Lewis will be officiating.
