I'd like to apologize to the people of Augusta for comments attributed to me in Brian Mathewson's recent letter, "Replace our old civic center," Aug. 9).
Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus is dedicated to bringing quality family entertainment to cities across the country, and a large part of that experience hinges on the facility in which we perform our shows. The Augusta-Richmond County Civic Center is a fine facility, and we have had the pleasure of working with the management of the center for more than 10 years. It's a longstanding relationship built upon mutual respect, and one that Ringling Bros. looks forward to extending into the future.
It is worth noting that the key to any stop on our tour is our guests, and all of us with the Hometown Edition of Ringling Bros. thoroughly enjoyed playing to the enthusiastic crowds at the civic center. We thank you for your hospitality and hope you will join us when we return in the near future.
(Editor's note: The writer is the host of the Hometown Edition of Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus.)
