FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. -- The Arkansas Razorbacks held a two-hour scrimmage Wednesday after practicing positional work.
They went 60 snaps and closed with a successful field goal attempt by kicker Chris Balseiro.
"Sometimes with a young group like this, you just have to put the ball down and play," coach Houston Nutt said. "You can go fundamentals everyday, but they get bored with that and it doesn't get them any snaps. I can't wait to watch the film tonight."
Nutt singled out several defensive players.
"Clarke Moore, Sam Olajabutu, Desmond Sims, Darren Rogers, Pierre Brown and Marcus Whitmore showed up today," Nutt said. "I'm anxious to see how the secondary improved. We'll come out here tomorrow and work on correcting any mistakes."
Rogers, Brown and DNerian Wrighter led the defense with four tackles apiece. Matterral Richardson had the lone interception of the day.
Offensively, Matt Jones hit 8-of-9 for 209 yards with a pair of touchdowns. Jones also ran for a 35-yard score on his only carry of the day.
Steven Harris hauled in two passes for 80 yards including a 75-yard touchdown pass from Jones on the first play of the scrimmage.
Marcus Monk had one reception, a 52-yard touchdown strike from Jones. Carlos Ousley led the team with three receptions for 51 yards.
