STaF Athletics will hold tryouts for 2004 Fall and 2005 Summer Baseball Scout Showcase Teams. Top players from around Georgia are sought to fill 18u, 17u, 16u, and 15u teams. Tryouts are open to all players interested in playing baseball at the collegiate level. The ninth annual John de la Howe School Open Golf Tournament will be held at Savannah Lakes on Aug. 28. Registration is $60 per player and includes greens fees, cart rental and a meal following play. The field of play is limited to 30 four-man teams. The shotgun start will begin at 1 p.m., and the tournament will be played in the Captain's Choice, Team Handicap format. Gymnastics classes will be offered at the H.O. Weeks center for beginner and intermediate gymnasts on Thursdays from 6-7 p.m. The class is for boys and girls ages 4-12. Registration is now being taken for two new ten-week classes in beginning foil fencing, with all competitive equipment provided. The youth class for 11-14-year-olds will be held on Tuesdays from 5:30-6:20 p.m. The Adult class will meet Thursdays from 6-6:50 p.m. All activities will meet downtown at the facilities on Ninth Street between Broad and Reynolds. Crown Christian Center will present "Legends of Georgia Championship Wrestling" on Aug. 17 at 8 p.m. at the Aiken Municipal Building in the Alley. A fan-fest meet and greet will be held 6-8 p.m. Performers will include Ole Anderson, Jimmy Valiant, and Ricky Martin (of the Rock and Roll Express). Wrestling matches will begin at 8 p.m., with free admission.
