THIS IS A RANT pertaining to individuality. It's a wonderful image to display total, personal character in dress and appearance. But when entire groups organize all dressed as L.A., Chicago and New York gangs, this is not individuality! This is, in fact, organized nonconformity and will be socially accepted as such by most citizens.
A RAVE TO the young woman playing Vivaldi on her violin at the Ninth Street riverwalk amphitheater Thursday evening. Her playing was beautiful and gave tremendous pleasure to those lucky enough to hear her.
WELL, it seems that in letters to the editor, the often-published, ranting, rabid, right-wing Republican of Hephzibubba, Mr. Smock, is crying the blues about the liberal-biased film Fahrenheit 9/11. Mr. Smock, your attention, please. You have to go out to a theater and pay money for that particular point of view. At least Mr. Moore doesn't lie and proclaim it's fair and balanced. Fear not. You can get the extreme right-wing view 24-7 bought and paid for by Republicans on Fox News, or you can just read The Chronicle editorials and check out their political cartoons.
A RANT TO the Augusta Parks and Recreation Department! I took my 10-year-old son, pumped from watching the X-Games on TV, to the Skate Park on Damascus Road this beautiful Saturday afternoon. We arrived at 3 p.m. - just in time for the scheduled opening. We waited until almost 4 p.m., and no one showed up to even open the park. I called the number listed on the sign and was referred to a voice mail, which then said they were not taking messages at this extension. What a poor way to spend a beautiful Saturday!
A RANT ABOUT the so-called Christians for President Bush. Especially before election day, these people need to remember that the U.S. Supreme Court literally appointed Bush to the presidency. This is the same court that continues to keep abortion legal! Where is the Christianity in this?
